FUSEBOX

Brief

'Develop a solution to communicate the brand's history within their exhibition space.'

This project was created in collaboration with design student Simon Bode at Kingston University.

‘FUSEBOX’ is an open art space and artist collective located within the exhibition space of Kingston’s oldest bridge. Their brief was to communicate their history and that of the space to visitors. After extensive research and experimentation, we decided to create a Flexible Visual System, inspired by Martin Lorenz’s concept. This system allowed us to address the brief effectively. We designed information leaflets based on the idea of a box, enabling ‘FUSEBOX’ to exhibit its history both on-site and beyond.

The final product unfolds into a box pattern, allowing a single piece of paper to form a 3D display that stands upright and showcases the history of 'FUSEBOX'.

The Process

'FUSEBOX' was a project with a real client within our course. This also motivated us even more, seeing the space, the founders and experiencing the history of the place. We worked based on existing branding and therefore decided to push the current state, by making it flexible. Finding an answer to the brief, to redesign  the information within the exhibition about 'FUSEBOX', was challenging. But it turned out to be a very fun challenge. We enjoyed working in a team of two, informing each others practice and pushing what we could create. 'FUSEBOX' stands as a milestone within my work, understanding how to see my limits and how to overcome them.
